GEORGE AND DRAGON

Location:- Wellington Street somewhere

Little has been found. It was definitely in Wellington Street. The 2 newspaper adverts here are the best bet to help fix the location.

The above from the Journal of February 1973, when work commenced on building the new Rookery, points the way. The two villas mentioned in the advert were Epsom Villas, which makes the building, shown here as Morrum House, the "Gerge and Dragon" That was actually known as Burleigh House until the 1950s. This makes what is now (2024) Casino and Hidayah Asian Grocers the site of the George and Dragon and Autozone was Epsom Villas
